Another follow-up (I know I’m writing a lot today): this is to notify you that the upcoming stable version of the add-on will be the final version to support Studio releases earlier than 5.31; I advise upgrading to at least Studio 5.40 if possible.

A few important announcements:

• The next version of the add-on is on its way. Provided that things work out, the next stable (and final) version of the add-on (version 22.03) will be released a few hours after NVDA 2022.1 beta 1 is released. As of that release, I’m officially no longer maintaining SPL ad-on.
• End of support for Windows7 and 8.x: speaking of end of maintenance, version 22.03 is expected to be the final release to support Windows 7 and 8.x. If I get to come back to maintaining this add-on, I’ll be asking you to upgrade to at least Windows 10.

Eh? Do you mean Control+NVDA+3 to read the third column in Remote VT playlist viewer? Alt+NVDA+3 is used to toggle Cart Explorer in main playlist viewer.

Afternoon all.

Ok so I am running latest versions of nvda, windows 10 and all the versions of spl are 6.0

Issue is the alt nvda 3 command is no longer showing the scheduled time for a track in remote vt, any thoughts?

The following applies if you are running Studio 5.31 and earlier:

The next stable version of the Studio add-on (22.01) will be the final release to support Studio 5.3x. This is so that the code can be simplified for future maintainers. In case no-one volunteers to maintain the add-on past the day NVDA 2022.1 is released, I will release a version of the add-on in late 2022 that will drop support for Studio 5.3x i.e. another long-term support (LTS) series; if there will be the next LTS series, updates for LTS releases must be installed manually.

This release introduces initial (albeit limited) support for Studio 6. Remember that the add-on requires NVDA 2021.2 or later to function properly.

Hello all,

After testing SPL suite (mostly Studio) 6 and looking at life choices ahead, it appears I need to make the difficult decision of providing a limited support for Studio 6. As much as I wished to provide a more complete support for broadcasters upgrading to Studio 6, due to a combination of layout changes, accessibility issues, and what I need to do in life right now, I felt it would be best to provide enough support so folks can run their shows. Therefore:

• SPL add-on 21.11 will be released (again) with the following issues resolved for studio 6 users: NVDA not announcing changes to status such as automation sometimes (not always, unfortunately as it is related to screen label issue), inability to enable Cart Explorer for Demo version users (Standard and Pro users are not affected), and NVDA not announcing the title of currently playing and upcoming tracks.
• To obtain information such as Studio uptime and playlist modified status, you should use screen review mode (NVDA+Numpad 7 in desktop layout, NVDA+Page Up in laptop layout, then use review cursor keys to navigate screen content). Part of this workaround has to do with the fact that status bar items such as uptime and playlist modified status do not have accessible labels for screen readers as it used to – one must obtain screen content itself (display text) which is not always present. I’m thinking this is something to be resolved from Studio side as this issue affects Narrator as well – I’m guessing something beyond NVDA’s control. No accessibility labels, combined with screen layout changes, is making it a bit harder to come up with workarounds, but I’m working on providing at least some resemblance of usability for broadcasters.
• I expect SPL add-on 21.11 will be the second to last version of the add-on from me; I expect the final (planned) version to be released in January 2022, hopefully with more issues resolved (preferably from Studio side). It is time for me to move on, but before I end add-on maintenance, I want to make sure at least you have something useful (and yes, I’m now more desperate to find new maintainers).

If this happens with Studio 5.5, then I’ll look into it today; if it is 6.0 specific issue, then I may need to delay SPL add-on 21.11 release to look into it next week. I know that on my system, NVDA does announce automation and other status messages (note that you must be running NVDA 2021.2 or later to use SPL add-on 21.10 or later).
